“I used to think of Dingle as the toughest road marathon in Ireland but after running Achill last week I'd say that mantle has been passed on! Both areas are stunningly scenic and both are well worth a visit - do yourself a favour and see them for yourself”

Achill Island is connected to the mainland by the Michael Davitt Bridge and accessible by car 24/7.
The Achill Ultra has something for every one. From the dedicated runners to visitors set to simply explore this incredible coastline Achill will not disappoint. The 13.1-mile loop, running along the ‘Wild Atlantic Way’, can be completed once, twice, or three times. The course hosts the thundering Atlantic as a tempestuous backdrop and the myriad Islands of Clew Bay, Clare Island and the dramatic coastline of Achill. Other events happening alongside the marathon include local and visiting artists show casing their Sculpture and a recovery hike on the Monday after the races (free of charge) beginning at the controversial site Achillhenge and onwards to one of the Islands hidden treasures.
